i'm going to be posting a few "a little late..." blog posts. these are posts that i meant to post a while back but we've been pretty busy.
here is our first one. we took a trip about 1.5 hours away from town and enjoyed a few days on the sea. twas nice. we stayed at a ramada inn and it was very very nice. we had a sweet suite. they don't have any rooms that don't have at least 2 rooms, a kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a nice big family room. our patio also opened up onto the pool area and it was great. Here is the view from our patio. You can see beautiful flowers out by the pool.
Our room was just on down this path on the right. The path to the left of us would lead us down to the beach. The first two nights we actually ate dinner down on the beach. The hotel cost actually includes two meals (breakfast and dinner). This is because this resort area doesn't exactly have a town where you can just walk around in and find restaurants. Pretty much everything that you do in this area is centered around what your hotel has to offer.
Landon woke up early one day from his nap and was super cranky. After hanging out with us a few minutes on our bed he passed out again. he was so close the edge of the bed and we were worried about him falling on the tile... but we were worried that if we tried to move him toards the center of the bed he would wake up... catch 22... so i put about 5 pillows and a blanket over all of them to give him some padding in case he fell. he didn't fall and woke up happy. yay :)
Here are some good pool shots...Landon and I near the stairs.
Landon and Yvonne having a great time together in the pool.
Landon had a great time building up his confidence and jumping pretty far and into the water with me. One time he jumped when we weren't ready... but it was in the kiddy pool side and I was right near him :)Landon and mommy enjoying the drink of the day, the sunshine (lemon juice, 7up and cherry juice).
Landon just being his cuite self in the pool...We thought this was interesting. Practically every piece of furniture had a sticker on it pointing towards mecca to make it easy for the muslim patrons to know which direction to pray towards.
little lando calrissian is doing fine. he still has some scratches and around his lip is still pretty raw. in a few days we're going to go down and beat the snot out of the dirt and make us feel better. oh yeah.
my ankle is doing pretty well too... there is some bruising and it is still pretty tender when it is turned in certain directions. i sat on my rump for two days with my foot elevated. well because i sat down for a very long time my back is hurting a lot now. you guys can be thinking about these issues for me.
i took landon out last night. mama needed a nap so we decided to hit the streets and run some errands. on the way back, right outside our building, i rolled my ankle. poor landon was up on my shoulders and when i went down, he went down... hard. luckily he didn't just go straight down and land on his head. i actually saw him take his fall and it was like he slid into 3rd base on his face. my heart breaks everytime i see his face... i feel like i won the worst dad of the year award. sorry buddy.
poor guy looks like he got in a bar brawl...
the dust here is crazy man!
It is a very good idea to sweep/mop 3 times a week to get rid of it. The balconies often are neglected by us and are covered by dust. We have a screen on our balcony doors and Landon was out there with me the other day. He pressed his face against it and you can actually see the grid of the screen. It was too funny...
some friends of ours weren't able to come to landon's 2nd birthday party last week (i know, i know... i need to get some photos of that up on the blog... hold your horses!). so they wanted to take us to a nice private park to play with landon and have a picnic. this place is... i dunno... what's the word i'm searching for... oh yeah... clean! and it is also nice and quite... which is why i say it is like little america.
so my buddy and i dropped the ladies and landon off at the park to go and get the KFC or as it is called here, the 'kentacky'. we ate a nice lunch and had a great time. here are some pics and a video of landon playing on the playground.

so i guess there was a pipe issue here many years ago and because of that the building had to ditch all their in wall plumbing and most all of it is on the walls themselves. This is true of our bathrooms and all the water from the city line is on the outside of the building as well which causes the water to be rather warm hot!
many weeks ago i turned off the hot water heater in my bathroom to make sure that it wasn't hot water from the heater that was causing the problem. well as i said i knew that during the day the cold water runs hot but just discovered that because the "hot" water that should be coming from the hot water heater is just sitting in the heater and has cooled down. it is a wonderful shower temperature... cuz it's all about cool showers when its so hot and humid out there.
so it's like opposite day back in elementary day... hot is cold and cold is hot.
so i am creating a dvd that is about 40 minutes long that is a picture and video extravaganza of Landon's first two years of life... taking orders now!
and how much you ask would such a one-of-a-kind DVD cost?
one could argue for $99.99! but no!$99.99
not even $79.99
or... $59.99
we're crazy for offering for this little... but we'll sell it to you for...
well if you really want one let me know but you had better be really close to us... i'm talking blood or like-blood relationships... and don't be hurt when you get the "you're not close enough" excuse.
here is a little extra info for you computer people out there.unless you know something about pc computers then you won't care about this one...
so stop reading now.
stop it already! well go ahead... you know you don't listen to me.
I am using Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 to do his video and it is an awesome program... it is however a little bit of a memory hog. I have an HP Pavillion laptop with a AMD 4000 64-bit processor and 1GB of memory. Check out this maama-jaama in the task manager.
Nearly 540 Mb of RAM being sucked up by this program. ouch :(
there are no olan mills, sears, or jcpenney studios over here... so when we watned have to get landon's portraits done we had to go to a photo processing store. its basically like the walmart photo lab and the walmart portrait studio in one.
the studio has all sorts of examples of kids portraits in the window in which they superimpose them with cartoon characters. we posted one of those photos back in the day that you may recall... the one where droopy the dog is pointin' a six-shooter at your kids head. lovely, eh?
well, the studio we had gone to was in another part of town. the other day we were back in that part of town and our friend told us that we had to go to the photo lab and check it out. so off we went and when we arrived this is what we saw. they had decided to spruce up the window display and ditch the pics with the cartoons... instead they have a picture of our son in the window... along with many other national folks... but landon is right in the center and he is like an 11x14 photo. have a peak...
and a close up...
